Troubadour to bring 3,000-seat theatre complex to North Greenwich
"The Troubadour theatre will be built on a plot of land that was, until just recently, the worksite offices for the Silvertown Tunnel next to the Cable Car. The theatre company says it has permission to operate the site for ten years. It's likely that it would then be developed for housing as most of the rest of North Greenwich has been and is being."
"The two 1,500-seat theatres are expected to open in Autumn 2026, and will house existing productions as well as being designed to host large-scale musicals and entertainment shows. Troubadour is an operator of large modern theatres, with a threate in Wembley Park and one opening soon in Canary Wharf, plus studios at Brent Cross and Meridian Water. The site is owned by Knight Dragon, which has given them the lease to use the plot of land until they are ready to redevelop it."
Two large temporary theatres with a combined seating capacity of 3,000 will open side by side in North Greenwich in Autumn 2026. The Troubadour theatre will occupy a former Silvertown Tunnel worksite next to the Cable Car under a ten-year operating permission, with likely later redevelopment for housing. The venues will host existing productions and large-scale musicals and entertainment shows. Troubadour operates other venues in Wembley Park, Canary Wharf, Brent Cross and Meridian Water. Knight Dragon owns the site and has granted a lease until redevelopment. The proposals are subject to Greenwich Council planning permission and use a basic shed-style design.
