"We love cotton candy because it's nostalgic, magical and fun—it's also a really interesting artistic medium. Some of our most intricate sculptures take the longest to perfect. We constantly look for ways to perfect the art, proportions and textures."
"Alejandra Villanueva and Brian Carroll are the founders of Fluffy Algodón, a Colombian-born confectionery known for whimsical cotton-candy animals and cartoon character creations. While working as an architect, Villanueva started selling cotton candy as a weekend project. But as her cutesy unicorn and pig designs gained a following and she officially founded Fluffy Algodón in 2019."
"The Bad Bunny dessert took 30 minutes to complete. Ever the creatives, the makers of Fluffy Algodón have been quick to tap into cultural trends, whipping up New York's unofficial mascot and even recreating a pint-sized Bad Bunny for the Super Bowl."
Fluffy Algodón, founded by Alejandra Villanueva and Brian Carroll, uses cotton candy as an artistic medium to create elaborate sculptures of cartoon characters and pop culture icons like SpongeBob SquarePants, Bluey, and Pokémon. Villanueva began the venture as a weekend project while working as an architect, creating whimsical designs that gained popularity. The confectionery officially launched in 2019 and expanded to New York in 2021, working street fairs and private events. Their creations attracted major brand partnerships including Sephora, Netflix, and Hello Kitty. The artists stay current with cultural trends, creating pieces like Pizza Rat and a miniature Bad Bunny for the Super Bowl. Complex sculptures require significant time and precision to perfect proportions and textures. Fluffy Algodón will open a standalone cart at Time Out Market New York in Union Square starting March 4.
