These Paintings Are an Evocative Meditation on Twilight
Briefly

In his solo exhibition 'Between Dog and Wolf,' artist Marcus Leotaud focuses on themes of visibility and ambiguity. Growing up between Trinidad and the UK, Leotaud's work uses muted colors and soft textures to create landscapes and figures that emerge and dissolve in the viewer's sight. His paintings invoke the transient quality of twilight, a metaphor for moments of uncertainty where perception is often challenged. Inspired by diverse imagery and personal influences, Leotaud aims to encourage contemplation rather than convey a specific narrative.
"I'm interested in the missing parts ... in the gaps and in those moments where we fail to see each other clearly," says artist Marcus Leotaud.
The title comes from the French expression entre chien et loup, referring to the hour of ambiguity when 'you can't really tell what you're looking at,' Leotaud explains.
