In a blog post, YouTube said users asked for the new feature, citing social media posts by influential content creators like Marques Brownlee (who, under the moniker MKBHD is a popular technology reviewer.) YouTube's 2025 annual trends list was otherwise dominated by tracks from KPop Demon Hunters and longtime creator MrBeast, who made the year-end top creators list for a sixth consecutive year. YouTube launched YouTube Recap, its first personalized trends feature, allowing users to view and share individual viewing and listening summaries. Trending topics included Squid Game, Labubu soft toys, Roblox user-generated games, and prominent conservative podcasts and creators.
