The Royal Shakespeare Company will stage Game of Thrones: The Mad King, a theatrical prequel, in Stratford-upon-Avon this summer. Duncan Macmillan adapted the play and Dominic Cooke will direct; the collaboration was first announced in 2021. George R.R. Co-artistic directors Tamara Harvey and Daniel Evans position the play within a continuum of history cycles and describe an exploration of authority through young people grappling with inherited identities.
