She frequently appeared in light-entertainment shows as a comic foil to stars such as Leslie Crowther, Tommy Cooper, Dick Emery and Morecambe and Wise. A devoted variety performer, she returned repeatedly to the Players' theatre club in London to present Victorian music-hall pieces over five decades and joined Players in 1955. She toured to New York with the Players' Strollers (1961–62), took over Dulcie in The Boy Friend in 1957, and featured on BBC's The Good Old Days (1968–83).
