Oceánica Ballet's two-act family-friendly production The Headless Horseman + Viva La Vida returns for 2025 with performances on October 25 and 26 at the College of San Mateo Theatre. Act One adapts Washington Irving's Legend of Sleepy Hollow, portraying Ichabod as an outsider haunted by townsfolk and the Headless Horseman while seeking belonging. Act Two tells an original multicultural story of Lucio and Lupita that transcends loss and celebrates resilience and love through a folklórico-infused ode to life inspired by Día de los Muertos. The wisdom of women across time and cultures is amplified throughout both stories. Tickets range from $29 to $46 with limited discounts. The production contains creepy sounds and spooky puppetry that may affect very young children.
