Nothing lasts forever, except maybe the Goo Goo Dolls
Briefly

John Rzeznik says the song "Nothing Lasts Forever" reflects the transient nature of relationships and life rather than signaling retirement. The Goo Goo Dolls have released 14 studio albums, nearly 40 singles, and earned multiple Grammy nominations along with numerous platinum and gold singles; "Iris" remains a signature hit. Rzeznik, nearing 60, continues to tour energetically, maintain fitness, and take vocal lessons with coach Eric Vetro to preserve his distinctive voice. He notes increased awareness of time after outliving both parents and feeling life move faster than in earlier decades.
"I wish it was, but it was just more about the transient nature of our relationships and life," Rzeznik told NPR's A Martinez. "It's like life just seems to be moving so much quicker than it was when I was 30 or 40."
"Nothing Lasts Forever" is not his retirement song.
