"The National Gallery of Art will officially begin welcoming the public once more on Friday, with plans to return to normal business hours going forward. (As the museum pointed out in its release announcing the reopening, this also means that its espresso bar and its cafes will once more be in operation, too.) That same day, the Smithsonian-operated National Museum of American History, the National Air and Space Museum, and the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center will also reopen."
The National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. will reopen Friday after being closed for more than a month because of the government shutdown, returning to normal business hours and restarting its espresso bar and cafes. Several Smithsonian museums, including the National Museum of American History, the National Air and Space Museum, and the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, will also reopen that day. The Smithsonian said other museums, research centers, and the zoo will reopen on a rolling basis beginning Monday without a precise schedule. The exhibition "The Stars We Do Not See: Australian Indigenous Art," featuring nearly 200 works and billed as the largest survey of its kind staged outside Australia, will open Saturday.
