"Expressed through a rich vocabulary of form and color, Zio Ziegler's paintings offer a non-linear, transhistorical vision of knowledge and representation. "Painting is my attempt at processing and synthesizing the stories and information I've become curious about," Ziegler explains. "Human beings advance by looking at things from different perspectives and by changing the way in which they look at themselves.""
"There could hardly be a more fitting place than Gstaad to host this exhibition, which also marks Ziegler's first solo show in Switzerland. The Saanenland is a mystic place, charged with energy-where nature and society, tradition and innovation, coexist, often in paradoxical ways. For Ziegler, this juxtaposition of opposites is familiar: he teaches design at Stanford, in the heart of Silicon Valley, yet lives and works in Mill Valley, California, riding his bike almost daily on Mount Tamalpais-a mountain once inhabited by Native American tribes."
Six Trees is Zio Ziegler's third solo exhibition with Almine Rech Brussels, on view through February 1, 2026. Ziegler's paintings use a rich vocabulary of form and color to create non-linear, transhistorical visions of knowledge and representation. Painting functions as his method for processing and synthesizing stories and information that spark curiosity. Ziegler believes human advancement comes from adopting different perspectives and reexamining self-perception. The exhibition marks his first solo show in Switzerland and is presented in Gstaad, where the Saanenland's mystic energy and juxtaposition of nature, tradition, and innovation resonate with his practice. Ziegler teaches design at Stanford and lives in Mill Valley, California.
