Juxtapoz Magazine - As We Await Submissions For Surreal Salon 18, We Look at Past Winners

"Now entering its 18th year, Surreal Salon is aimed at engaging audiences in an art experience like no other in the region by highlighting the growing popularity and exceptional quality of the pop-surrealist/lowbrow movement. Submissions will be reviewed via a blind jurying process that will ensure that works are selected based solely on their artistic merit (the juror does not see an artist's name until after selections for the exhibition have been made)."

"More than $2,000 in cash prizes was awarded to participating artists in conjunction with the exhibition and the artist whose work is selected as Best in Show is also be profiled in an online editorial by Juxtapoz. Today, we look at the past winners and some of the selects from 2025 when guest juror, Evan Pricco, of Juxtapoz took the honors he now passes to Swoon!"

Surreal Salon 18 invites pop-surrealist and lowbrow artists to submit work by November 8, 2025. The exhibition will be on view January 2–25, 2026 at Baton Rouge Gallery, located inside Baton Rouge's City-Brooks Community Park. Swoon serves as the guest juror and selections will be made via a blind jurying process so works are chosen solely on artistic merit. More than $2,000 in cash prizes will be awarded to participating artists, and the Best in Show will receive an online profile by Juxtapoz. The program continues a tradition of showcasing regional and national lowbrow talent.
