The Trump Administration's budget cuts targeting various cultural organizations have alarmed the arts sector in Oregon. In response, leaders from arts and culture organizations gathered at the Willamette Heritage Center to develop strategies to advocate for their funding. Sponsored by the Cultural Advocacy Coalition of Oregon, this gathering included state legislators and served as a platform for sharing best practices among community leaders. Advocacy Day was organized to further push for the arts, stressing the impact of these cultural institutions on community well-being.
"One of the stories that we shared at our fundraiser last fall was from a family who lives, you know, 35 miles away, whose parents both work in social services."
"It was an opportunity for the leaders of these programs to hear from the administrators and directors of arts associations and cultural centers from all over the state."
