"In 2018, a much-loved piece of graffiti near Denham on the M25 saying "give peas a chance" was itself graffiti'd with Give Helch a Chance. Since then, Helch has been seen dotted all around the place, and now the anonymous typographically inclined artist has their own show. The Peas graffiti, on a railway bridge crossing the M25 has since been repainted many times, to the considerable annoyance of Network Rail,"
"Now, a collection of decorative H's have filled the BSMT Gallery in Dalston, this time with permission, and hefty price tags. Most of the display is a collection of dropped Hs from their collection, making it both a display that can be seen as innocent decorative typography, or for those in the know, an underpinning of street art subversiveness. A nice touch is the tools of the trade hanging from the ceiling."
In 2018 a much-loved graffiti near Denham on the M25 reading "give peas a chance" was overpainted with 'Give Helch a Chance'. Since then Helch motifs have appeared around the area. The Peas graffiti on a railway bridge crossing the M25 has been repainted many times, provoking Network Rail and illustrating tensions between street artists and trespass. A gallery show at BSMT in Dalston now presents decorative Hs with permission and price tags. The display mainly consists of dropped Hs that read as decorative typography yet reference street-art subversion. Tools hang from the ceiling. The exhibition NO HALF MEASURES runs Wednesday–Saturday 10am–5pm and Sunday 11am–5pm near Dalston Overground stations.
