"Running from March 17 to July 19, 2026, Renoir and Love will be one of the top special exhibitions of the year in Paris. Celebrating how affection, connection and human relationships shaped Renoir's work during a defining period of his career. Bringing many key works together for the first time in decades, the exhibition offers a fresh perspective on how Renoir approached love not as an abstract ideal, but as something lived and experienced within the changing social life of late-19th-century Paris."
"This is the first exhibition devoted entirely to Renoir's works on paper, highlighting a a less familiar aspect of his artistry. Best known for his warm palette and sensuous brushwork, Renoir is not often associated with drawing. From quick studies of figures and gestures to more carefully developed compositions, these works reveal how closely Renoir observed the world around him and how deliberately his painted scenes were constructed."
Musée d'Orsay will stage two concurrent Renoir exhibitions in spring–summer 2026: Renoir and Love: A Joyful Modernity (1865–1885) from March 17 to July 19, and Renoir Drawings from March 17 to July 5. Renoir and Love focuses on how affection, connection and everyday relationships informed Renoir's work during a defining period, assembling key paintings set in cafés, gardens and riversides to emphasize immediacy and modern social life. Renoir Drawings offers an intimate counterpoint by presenting the artist's works on paper—quick studies and developed compositions—that reveal observational rigor and the deliberate construction behind his painted scenes.
