Los Angeles artist Rob Sato presents a new collection featuring drawings, paintings, and textile works that delve into the dichotomy of chaos and the necessity for rest. Influenced by daily drawings and dreams, Sato collaborates with local artists to reinterpret his work through textiles. This approach creates an interplay of figuration and abstraction meant to encourage reflection on the tumultuous forces shaping our lives. The exhibition, titled 'Earthquake Country', is displayed at Subliminal Projects until July 26th.
Drawing is my main source of play and my main tool for seeing and thinking. This body of work is marked by a period of trying to commune with the world I encounter every day, and to make art more intuitively than ever.
The artworks are an invitation to reflect and reimagine as we navigate spiritual, physical, and cultural unrest.
