Tina — the Tina Turner Musical opens the North American tour in Oakland Jan. 21–22 at 7:30 p.m. at the newly renovated Henry J. Kaiser Center for the Arts at 10 10th St. The show traces a small-town woman’s rise to international stardom, features hits such as What’s Love Got to Do with It and Proud Mary, and highlights Turner’s 12 Grammy Awards and 1991 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction. Directed by Phyllida Lloyd, Darilyn Burtley stars as Tina with Monty Kane as Ike. Berkeley Rep stages Arthur Miller’s All My Sons Feb. 20–Mar. 29 featuring Jimmy Smits and Wanda De Jesus, with Associate Artistic Director David Mendizabal reexamining themes of race, ethnicity and class in the play about the American Dream and moral compromise.
