""A lot of colleges and universities have an arts presenter as part of campus life," said Wikler, director of Arts Programming, Partnerships, & Philanthropy for Clark College Foundation. "The Portland metro area hasn't had one, since Portland State in the mid-1990s. "It's something I feel very passionately about. You bring touring artists to campus and it connects them with the campus and community. Artists see the world differently and can be catalysts to a lot of things happening.""
"In its first season, Arts@Clark Presents collaborated on programming for the Vancouver Arts and Music Festival in August 2025, which also promoted student talent - artists, poets, musicians - and culinary students who baked 700 cookies for guests. Later in 2025, Arts@Clark Presents brought to campus the Flynn Creek Circus and spoken-word poets for a "Making Cake" show in collaboration with the school's baking and English departments."
Clark College Foundation established Arts@Clark Presents to stage music and entertainment performances, workshops and public events for fundraising and student educational purposes. The initiative is labeled "Campus Based Presenting" and fills a gap in the Portland metro area that lacked a college-based presenter since Portland State in the mid-1990s. Ruth Wikler serves as director of Arts Programming, Partnerships, & Philanthropy for Clark College Foundation and emphasizes linking touring artists to campus and community. The first season included collaboration with the Vancouver Arts and Music Festival, student showcases, Flynn Creek Circus, spoken-word "Making Cake" events, and planned workshops and performances tied to academic departments.
