"has threatened to commence a wholly meritless lawsuit against the company, based on the allegation that he was unlawfully and involuntarily terminated upon returning to work from paternity leave."

"reengaging him as a contract employee, on special projects,"
"ludicrous position"
Masterworks filed suit in New York State Supreme Court naming former chief product officer Hai Min Tran and alleging he threatened a meritless lawsuit claiming unlawful and involuntary termination upon returning from paternity leave. The company states Tran voluntarily resigned before taking leave and told the CEO he planned to relocate to the West Coast. Masterworks offered possible contract reengagement on special projects if work existed. The firm alleges Tran sought part-time rehire with no project available and then attempted to leverage a severance payment, calling his position ludicrous. Slack screenshots are included in the complaint. Representatives for both sides did not comment.
