"This week, London Theatre Company released first-look photos from the opening day of rehearsals for its winter production of Into the Woods, Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's witty, unsettling and profoundly humane musical about what happens after happily ever after. This new staging of Into the Woods, directed by Jordan Fein with set and costume design by Tom Scutt, begins previews on 2nd December 2025, with an official opening night of 11th December."
"In the first act, these characters pursue their wishes, striking bargains and venturing into the forest. By the end, the fairytale endings have been neatly tied up. Then, in the second act, the ground shifts. Wishes come true, but consequences follow. Characters make difficult choices, unexpected alliances form, and the stories start to unravel. Sondheim's score is one of his most brilliant: harmonically daring, rhythmically precise, and capable of veering from comedy to tragedy in a single bar."
London Theatre Company will stage a major revival of Into the Woods at the Bridge Theatre, with rehearsals underway and previews from 2 December 2025, opening 11 December. Jordan Fein directs, with set and costume design by Tom Scutt. The run lasts 20 weeks through 18 April 2026. The musical braids Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, Rapunzel, and a Baker and his Wife, following desires and bargains in the first act and consequences, unraveling choices, and alliances in the second. Sondheim's harmonically daring score won Tonys for Best Original Score and Best Book, remaining emotionally complex and structurally ingenious.
