Christie's New York will offer M.F. Husain's Untitled (Horses) in the South Asian Modern and Contemporary Art sale on 17 September, with an estimate of $100,000 to $150,000. In March, Christie's sold Untitled (Gram Yatra) (1954) for $13.7m (including fees), nearly quadrupling its high estimate and setting records for modern Indian art. Husain described horses as a childhood fascination and depicted them as a mix of power and grace. Leonor Fini's embroidered cat mask (around 1960) will appear at the Independent 20th Century fair in New York, estimated at $475,000, and originates from her personal collection.
