XAI's Macrohard project stalls as Tesla ramps up a similar AI agent effort

Two project leaders departed in February, followed by cofounder Toby Pohlen's brief tenure and subsequent exit after 16 days. The project struggled with scaling challenges and faced criticism from Musk regarding development progress. Concurrently, nearly two dozen engineers have left Macrohard or transferred to other teams, with over a dozen departures occurring recently. Meanwhile, Tesla has been advancing its own AI agent project called Digital Optimus, suggesting a shift in focus within Musk's companies.
