Workers fear this even more than burnout

In fact, AI nudged out burnout as the leading concern among job seekers. For 40% of employers, adopting AI is a major focus in 2026-but 35% of job seekers see this as a troubling shift."

Amazon is cutting 16,000 jobs after earlier reducing 14,000 positions. The company projects that adopting AI will reduce total corporate workforce size as efficiency gains occur. Many corporate leaders expect AI to transform workplaces and urge employee adoption. A survey of over 2,000 workers found more than one-third believe AI will harm job opportunities and career growth, and AI surpassed burnout as the top job-seeker concern. Forty percent of employers plan major AI adoption focus in 2026, while 35% of job seekers view that shift as troubling. Employers and workers both use AI but often distrust each other’s use.
