""Harnessed well, AI will be a strategic advantage for Singapore," Wong said during his Feb. 12 budget address."
""It can help us overcome our structural constraints-our limited natural resources, rapidly ageing population and tight labor market.""
""A few leading companies like DBS and Grab are already moving decisively on AI transformation," he said."
Singapore is creating a national AI council led by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong to oversee four national AI missions in advanced manufacturing, connectivity, finance and healthcare. The government will increase tax deductions and allowances for companies adopting AI, build an AI park in one-north, and offer six months of free access to premium AI services for Singaporeans who complete AI training. Companies are urged to adopt AI comprehensively, with DBS and Grab cited as examples of early adopters. Grab uses AI across services including automated menu translations in its food delivery app and an in-house model dispatching 90% of ride requests.
