AI Overviews delivers AI-generated search summaries to around two billion users each month. The feature has produced inaccurate answers and faced lawsuits alleging harm to organic traffic. Analysis of more than 50,000 German health-related searches showed about 34% of AI Overview results came from trusted medical sources and about 66% came from non-medical sources, with YouTube cited two to three times more often than trusted medical sites for health queries. Prior investigations flagged false, misleading, and potentially dangerous health guidance in some Overviews, and Google has disputed those claims while noting content comes from a common pool.
