Waymo will remove safety operators from robotaxis in five American cities, with the change already implemented in Miami and upcoming in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Orlando. Waymo will offer paid autonomous rides next year and plans to roll out paid rides in vehicles with nobody inside in 2026. Waymo operates in the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Atlanta and Austin and plans to add 12 more cities, including London. Waymo reports its autonomous driving suite has over 100 million miles of real-world driving experience and claims to have developed a definitive playbook for operating autonomous fleets.
