"The installation consists of over 800 woven metal discs, each shaped to evoke plumeria flowers, crucial to the island's identity."
"Vincent Leroy imagines a giant flight of kinetic flowers, engaging with light and atmosphere through natural daylight filtering."
Bloom, a kinetic installation designed by Vincent Leroy, is located in Sanya, Hainan, consisting of over 800 metal discs shaped like plumeria flowers. Spanning 40 meters in width, the installation's ultra-thin metallic mesh allows the discs to gently rotate, responding to air currents. This dynamic movement engages with natural light, creating patterns of shadow and color. The project emphasizes a balance between visual delicacy and scale, integrating seamlessly with the surrounding public space while illuminating it with golden hues from filtered sunlight.
