Microsoft will invest $30 billion in AI infrastructure in the UK over the next four years, claiming the largest financial commitment it has ever made in the country and representing more than two thirds of the announced investment. Half of Microsoft's funds will go to capital expansion and half to partnerships and facility financing, including a partnership with Nscale. Nvidia pledged up to $15 billion for AI-related R&D in the UK and will channel investment through partners CoreWeave and Nscale. A new Stargate UK joint venture involving Nvidia, Nscale and OpenAI aims to strengthen the UK's sovereign compute capabilities, with OpenAI providing up to 8,000 GPUs.
