GPT-5.3-Codex is a new agentic coding model that runs about 25% faster and supports longer-running tasks. Anthropic released Opus 4.6, a general-purpose model, at the same time. Codex was used to debug its own training, manage deployment, and diagnose test results. Codex can be steered mid-task without losing context, and underspecified prompts now yield richer, more usable results. A dedicated Codex Mac app is available, and the release number suggests a general GPT-5.3 may follow soon. The model expands from writing and reviewing code to broad developer and professional computer tasks.
