"Lyft Inc. is partnering with autonomous vehicle developer Tensor Auto Inc. to deploy a fleet of hundreds of robotaxis in Europe and North America starting in 2027. The ride-hailing company will additionally make its platform available on all Tensor vehicles, called Robocars, according to a joint statement by the companies on Thursday. Lyft shares jumped during early trading but turned negative to trade as much as 2.5% lower after markets opened in New York."
"The vehicles will come from the manufacturer with Lyft's platform installed, which will allow owners to make money on the rideshare network in markets where level 4 autonomous technology is available, according to the joint statement. Lyft has reserved hundreds of Robocars via its affiliates for its own fleet operations, subject to regulatory approvals. Financial terms were not disclosed and the companies didn't identify which metropolitan areas they'd target initially."

Tensor Robocars, with first deliveries planned in late 2026, include more than 100 sensors and use Nvidia-powered on-board AI to process sensor data. Financial terms and initial metropolitan targets were not disclosed. The agreement marks Lyft's first commitment to purchasing and operating its own autonomous car fleet.
