IAF jet on Myanmar relief operation faced cyber attack in air
Briefly

Since March 29, Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft have been conducting rescue and relief operations in quake-struck Myanmar under Operation Brahma. However, they have encountered cyber-attacks, specifically GPS spoofing that misleads pilots regarding their true locations. The origin of these spoofing attacks remains unclear, particularly in a region where China has strategic interests and non-state militant groups are active. To counteract the spoofing, IAF pilots have switched to a backup inertial navigation system to ensure accurate navigation and mission success despite the cyber threats.
Indian aircraft deployed for rescue efforts in earthquake-hit Myanmar faced GPS spoofing attacks, complicating their missions amid regional tensions and strategic rivalries.
GPS spoofing misleads pilots about their locations, a challenge in operational areas like Myanmar where the Indian Air Force has been active.
