"boring, honestly,"
"going to become the norm."
"The humanoid space has a very, very big hill to climb,"
"There's a lot of research that still needs to be solved."
The commercial boom in artificial intelligence has reignited efforts to build humanoid robots that move like humans and perform human tasks. Venture capitalists previously regarded robotics as complicated, capital-intensive and unappealing for investment. More than 2,000 people attended the Humanoids Summit, including robotics engineers from Disney, Google and numerous startups, to showcase technology and debate industry acceleration. Disney plans to deploy a walking robotic version of the Frozen character Olaf in Hong Kong and Paris theme parks early next year. Entertaining and complex robots exist, but general-purpose robots for workplaces or households remain farther away. Many researchers emphasize significant unsolved research challenges and slow timelines. Early customer interest is concentrated among industry insiders and conference attendees.
