OpenAI launched Atlas, an AI-powered web browser centered on ChatGPT with a sidebar that answers questions, summarizes content, compares products, analyzes site data, and edits highlighted text. Atlas debuted globally on macOS with upcoming releases for Windows, iOS, and Android. A premium preview called Agent Mode can autonomously complete multi-step tasks like researching and shopping for a trip. Users are initially opted out of allowing browsing data to train models and can delete browsing history. An opt-in Browser memories feature allows ChatGPT to retain facts and insights from users’ browsing.
