"As it happens, there's a related fitness in apples, as the Christmas tree baubles indirectly derive from the Biblical story of Adam and Eve - and a rather famous apple. When German town guilds put on Paradise Plays around Christmas, these tales of the expulsion of man from Eden needed a tree, and a snake, and an apple. The stage prop slowly became a Christmas Tree, which would be decorated with apples and other fruits,"
"You need to download the template from here, design a tree and send it to them. Submissions close at 11:59pm on 23rd November 2025. They suggest using brighter colours which are easier to project onto the power station walls, and if your design is chosen, the projections will run from 4th to 24th December, between the hours of 5pm and 10.30pm. There will be 24 winners in total - no prize other than the glory."
Battersea Power Station will project Christmas tree images onto its chimneys using public-submitted designs. Apple is running the competition and requires designs to be created on Apple devices; Android-made designs are not accepted. The historical origin of tree baubles traces to apples in medieval Paradise Plays, with tinsel representing the snake. Designers are advised to use brighter colours for better projection visibility on the power station walls. Designers must download the provided template, create a tree design, and submit it before 11:59pm on 23 November 2025. Selected designs will be projected from 4 to 24 December, 5pm–10:30pm, and 24 winners will be chosen.
