Trump threatens Apple with a 25% tariff if iPhones aren't made in America
Briefly

In a recent post on Truth Social, Donald Trump mandated that Apple must manufacture its iPhones in the United States or incur a 25% tariff on sales. This move is part of his continued push to bring manufacturing jobs back to America, amidst Apple's ongoing transition of some production to India. Following the announcement, Apple's share price dropped by over 2%, showcasing market unease regarding the potential rise in iPhone prices that could impact the company's substantial revenue from sales. CEO Tim Cook has previously indicated plans to heavily rely on India for future iPhone production.
"I have long ago informed Tim Cook of Apple that I expect their iPhone's that will be sold in the United States of America will be manufactured and built in the United States, not India, or anyplace else. If that is not the case, a Tariff of at least 25% must be paid by Apple to the U.S."
"For the June quarter, we do expect the majority of iPhones sold in the US will have India as their country of origin, and Vietnam to be the country of origin for almost all iPad, Mac, and other products."
