Trump threatens 25% tariff on Apple, 50% penalty on EU as his trade war intensifies
Briefly

President Trump announced potential tariffs of 50% on European Union imports and 25% on Apple products unless production is shifted to the United States. This response stems from dissatisfaction with ongoing trade negotiations with the EU, where Trump desires the preservation of certain tariffs while the EU aims for zero tariffs. He expressed frustration over Apple's plans to move manufacturing to India in light of the current tariffs on China, underscoring the tension between protecting American jobs and global supply chain adjustments.
Our discussions with them are going nowhere! Therefore, I am recommending a straight 50% Tariff on the European Union, starting on June 1, 2025.
I have long ago informed Tim Cook of Apple that I expect their iPhone's that will be sold in the United States of America will be manufactured and built in the United States, not India, or anyplace else.
