The Thomson Cast 150 emerges as a new streaming option for those discontent with Google's discontinuation of the Chromecast line. Mirroring the Chromecast's design and functionality, it operates on Google TV, supporting 4K, HDR10, and Dolby Atmos. While it includes pre-installed apps like Netflix and Disney Plus, the 8GB storage could be restrictive for users wishing to load many applications. Priced at â¬69 (approximately $78), it launches in Europe on May 28th, offering a cheaper alternative to Google's updated streaming devices, but leaving North America out of the equation.
Fortunately, if you're hankering after a new version of Google's old streamer, the Thomson Cast 150 might just fit the bill - but only if you live in Europe.
The Cast 150 includes support for 4K, along with the HDR10 standard and Dolby Atmos audio, but the 8GB of storage might be limiting if you intend to install a lot of apps.
We thought the Google TV Streamer was "an upgrade in every way" over the Chromecast, but it also just about doubled the price, and not everyone wants a set-top box on display next to their TV.
At â¬69 (around $78) the Cast 150 costs the same as Google's 4K Chromecast used to, but it's only going on sale in Europe, launching on May 28th.
