Apple is reportedly scrapping its AI-powered Health+ service
"A report last year claimed that Apple is working on a new AI-powered Health+ service that can give suggestions based on the gathered health data and even suggest form correction during exercise via the iPhone camera. However, the latest rumor is that the company is scaling back those efforts. A few months after Apple moved its Health and Fitness teams under the Services group, led by Eddy Cue, the company is giving up on its rumored Health+ service because Cue thinks Apple isn't competitive enough."
"According to internal sources, Eddy Cue wanted Apple to move faster and be more competitive in the wellness sphere, but services like Oura, for example, have already saturated the space and offer a wide range of health-oriented features on iOS. So instead of launching the Health+ service, Apple will gradually add the features it has already developed to its existing Health app."
Apple developed an AI-powered Health+ service intended to provide suggestions from gathered health data and offer exercise form correction via the iPhone camera. After moving Health and Fitness under the Services group led by Eddy Cue, leadership decided to abandon a standalone Health+ because Cue judged Apple not competitive enough in the wellness market. Internal sources say Cue pushed for faster progress while competitors like Oura already offer extensive iOS health features. Apple will instead fold the developed capabilities into the built-in Health app, with recommendation features expected this year and an AI health chatbot arriving later.
