"Less than a year ago, there was anxiety among investors that the launch of the iPhone 17 without advanced AI features would undermine success. That did not happen, even though the situation persisted through early 2026 and will continue until after mid-year. At that point, Apple will team up with Google to upgrade Apple Intelligence and Siri."
Apple’s iPhone continues to lead smartphone sales across the US and globally, based on carrier survey data covering the first quarter. Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile data from CounterPoint’s US Monthly Smartphone Channel Share Tracker shows Apple’s share among the “Big Three” increased to 75% from 72% a year earlier. Samsung provided the main competitive pressure with the late launch of the Galaxy S26, along with Motorola. Android faced weakness in the US, with Apple’s volume share growing by 4% year over year while Android device sales fell 14.4% year over year. iPhone “Americas” revenue rose to $45.1 billion from $40.3 billion, representing 41% of total iPhone sales. Concerns about iPhone 17 AI features did not materialize, and Apple plans to upgrade Apple Intelligence and Siri with Google after mid-year.
