"Sebastiaan de With, the co-founder of Lux which makes iPhone photo and video apps like Halide and Kino, said on Wednesday that he has joined Apple's design team. This is de With's second stint with Apple, where he previously worked on iCloud and Find My. Before co-founding Lux with Ben Sandofsky in 2016, he did design work for Sony, T-Mobile, and Mozilla. "So excited to work with the very best team in the world on my favorite products," de With said in a post on X."
"Meanwhile, Sandofsky said in a Reddit post that Halide will still be developed by Lux. The company today released a public preview of the new version of the app, Halide Mark III, and said it is focusing on "Looks," a feature that will recreate the aesthetics of film cameras. De With joins Apple at a time of significant changes in the division."
Sebastiaan de With has joined Apple’s design team, returning after earlier work on iCloud and Find My. He co-founded Lux with Ben Sandofsky in 2016 following design roles at Sony, T-Mobile, and Mozilla. Lux will continue to develop Halide under Sandofsky’s leadership. Lux released a public preview of Halide Mark III and is emphasizing a "Looks" feature intended to recreate film camera aesthetics. Apple’s design organization is experiencing change after the mixed reception to the Liquid Glass direction; Alan Dye left for Meta in December and John Ternus has taken on hardware and software design oversight.
