"If we didn't get paid, how are we going to pay back $15,000?"
"Jobs and Woz didn't have two nickels to rub together. I, on the other hand, had a house, and a car, and a bank account-which meant that I was on the hook if that thing blew up."
""50 or 100 computers""
Ronald Wayne joined Apple at age 41 as a third cofounder, typed the founding contract, and received a 10% stake while Jobs and Wozniak received 45% each. Wayne sold his initial stake for $800 and later accepted $1,500 to relinquish any claim. Jobs borrowed $15,000 to fulfill a Byte Shop order of "50 or 100 computers", and Wayne feared personal liability because he owned a house, car, and bank account. Wayne exited after 12 days to avoid financial risk. That 10% stake would now be worth an estimated $75 billion to $400 billion, given Apple's market capitalization above $4 trillion.
