The 1978 MINI has been transformed into the Shorty, a compact and roofless version, which serves more as a design study than a typical vehicle. Its design reflects intentional minimalism, with an emphasis on what has been removed rather than added. The current owner has made updates that include reupholstering, new tires, and detailing while maintaining the original engine and mechanics. This project showcases a clean, reimagined identity that respects the MINI's heritage but celebrates its current, edited form and drives well despite needing minor adjustments.
The Shorty reads like a study in subtraction. The classic MINI's body, already tight and economical, is pulled inward until there's barely more than a central mass to speak of.
These interventions don't try to restore the car to its original 1978 state. Rather, they reflect its current identity, shaped by modification and intent.
