The US Army has selected Bell's V-280 Valor as its next-generation air assault vehicle, designated MV-75. This tiltrotor aircraft is set to replace the aging UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter by the 2030s, enhancing the Army's capabilities with longer range and faster speeds. The V-280 was chosen over competitors like the Sikorsky-Boeing Defiant X as part of the Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft program. As the Army aims to modernize its fleet and prioritize the MV-75, it has also canceled plans for a new armed scout helicopter.
The Army plans to replace the Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk with the MV-75 by the 2030s.
