Italian carrier Busitalia deploys first Karsan hydrogen buses in Terni - Sustainable Bus
Two hydrogen-powered Karsan e-ATA Hydrogen buses have entered service in Terni, Umbria, Italy, near Perugia. The buses were presented by the Municipality of Terni and procured through Italy’s Consip framework with funding from the National Strategic Plan for Sustainable Mobility. The acquisition approval was completed in 2025, while Busitalia’s hydrogen mobility initiative began in 2020. The buses are supplied by Turkish manufacturer Karsan and marketed in Italy by Kmobility. Busitalia, part of FS Group, participated in testing and commissioning before service entry. The rollout connects to the EU co-financed LIFE3H project supporting hydrogen in public transport. Terni is preparing hydrogen infrastructure, including a dedicated refueling station expected by 2027, while Linde Gas Italia provides a temporary fueling solution for immediate operations.
