The Volkswagen ID. Buzz has received significant attention for its retro design, appealing to many enthusiasts. However, a critical analysis reveals concerns over its aerodynamics, weight, and EPA range rating of 234 miles, which may hinder road trip viability. The vehicle's suitability for travel depends on how one defines a road trip—whether long scenic drives or shorter family visits. During a test drive from Columbus, OH, to northern Detroit, the author found the ID. Buzz performed adequately despite initial skepticism about its capabilities.
Honestly, I don't think it did too badly.
Most auto journalists, when they get press vehicles on loan for evaluation, generally do pickup and delivery via a third-party fleet company.
The ID. Buzz was in my possession, I took a mini road trip - driving from my home in Columbus, OH, all the way to just north of Detroit, MI.
The van seats seven and in theory, should be a good road trip car.
