Groups hope Green @ Home tour sparks interest in clean energy
"When neighbors can walk through a home, see the equipment in action and talk candidly with the homeowner, it makes the transition to clean energy feel practical and achievable. Our goal is to take the mystery out of electrification."
"The tour will feature homes in Cupertino, Los Altos and Saratoga that have adopted electric appliances and a range of environmentally conscious upgrades. Tour attendees will be able to see working examples of energy-efficient heat pumps for space heating and cooling, heat pump water heaters, induction cooktops, rooftop solar systems, home battery storage and electric vehicles."
"Participants will have the chance to speak directly with homeowners about their experiences with appliance selection, contractor hiring, installation timelines and the financial aspects of electrification, including tax credits, rebates and incentive programs."
The Green @ Home Neighborhood Tour, presented by Rotary Clubs of Cupertino, Saratoga, and Los Altos alongside Acterra and Silicon Valley Clean Energy, invites community members to tour electrified homes on March 14, 2026. Participants will observe working examples of heat pumps for heating and cooling, heat pump water heaters, induction cooktops, rooftop solar systems, home battery storage, and electric vehicles. Several homes feature rainwater catchment and composting systems. Attendees can discuss appliance selection, contractor hiring, installation timelines, and financial aspects including tax credits and rebates directly with homeowners. The tour aims to demystify electrification by providing transparent, firsthand accounts of both challenges and long-term benefits of transitioning to electric living.
