The Austin light-rail project presented updates during the Mobility Committee meeting, focusing on enhancing pedestrian accessibility with three new features: a greenway along East Riverside Drive, a car-free zone on the University of Texas campus, and a plaza at the Oltorf stop. Planned stop revisions include cancelling a Travis Heights stop, creating a new Wooldridge Square stop, and adjusting others in Montopolis and near Lady Bird Lake. These updates respond to inflation costs and the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, ensuring compliance with the original Proposition A approved in 2020.
One of our findings was to really make the connections as easy as possible.
The purpose of the trail was to make it easier for pedestrians to access the train, as well as offering a "safe mobility option."
