Aurora Innovation, an autonomous vehicle technology company, announces plans to enhance its driverless operations by adding night driving and functionality during adverse weather conditions in late 2025. Current operations involve a safety operator overseeing self-driving trucks, but Aurora aims to expand routes from Dallas to Houston, El Paso, and Phoenix, forecasting "tens of trucks" in operation by 2025. This expansion comes following a milestone of over 4,000 miles of driverless operation without human intervention. Aurora also recently experienced the resignation of co-founder Sterling Anderson amid its evolving business strategy.
Aurora plans to start sending its self-driving trucks out at night and during adverse weather conditions in the second half of 2025.
The company aims to expand its driverless trucking routes beyond Dallas to Houston, El Paso, and Phoenix, with a goal of operating tens of trucks by end of 2025.
