ABB Motion showcases traction battery, AMXE250S motor and HES580 inverter at Busworld 2025 - Sustainable Bus
"ABB Motion is showcasing its latest technologies for the public transport sector at Busworld Europe 2025. Among the highlights are the Traction Battery Pro Series, the AMXE250S traction motor, and the HES580 mobile inverter, developed to power the next generation of electric buses. Battery, motor and inverter at ABB Motion stand The Traction Battery Pro Series was designed for safety, longevity, and operational flexibility. The system supported ultra-fast charging, optimized total cost of ownership, and integrated seamlessly with ABB's drivetrain ecosystem to accelerate fleet decarbonization."
"The AMXE250S traction motor, a compact permanent magnet synchronous motor built for heavy-duty electric vehicles, "is engineered for high torque across a wide speed range. The motor offers exceptional efficiency, supported by ABB's deep drivetrain integration expertise", in ABB's words. Finally, the HES580 mobile inverter, a next-generation three-level inverter, is said to reducing harmonic losses by up to 75 percent, lowering voltage stress, and extending motor lifetime."
ABB Motion showcased three core technologies for electric buses: the Traction Battery Pro Series, the AMXE250S traction motor, and the HES580 mobile inverter. The Traction Battery Pro Series focuses on safety, longevity, and operational flexibility while supporting ultra-fast charging, lowering total cost of ownership, and integrating with ABB's drivetrain ecosystem to speed fleet decarbonization. The AMXE250S is a compact permanent magnet synchronous motor engineered for high torque across a wide speed range and strong efficiency. The HES580 is a three-level inverter that can reduce harmonic losses by up to 75 percent and delivered about 6.3 percent energy savings in internal UITP SORT 2 tests versus two-level technology.
