Fake Ozempic drugs found in US drug supply, FDA warns
Briefly

The FDA has issued a warning about counterfeit Ozempic in the US after Novo Nordisk reported several hundred units were found outside its authorized supply chain. The agency advised patients and healthcare professionals to check for specific lot and serial numbers associated with the counterfeit products. While six adverse event reports were linked to the specific lot, they were not directly related to the counterfeit medications. Ongoing testing of the seized products is being conducted by both the FDA and Novo Nordisk to establish safety and authenticity.
The counterfeit products were distributed outside the Novo Nordisk authorized supply chain in the US. FDA seized the identified counterfeit products on April 9, 2025.
At Novo Nordisk, patient safety is our top priority, and we take the growing number of incidents involving counterfeit versions of Ozempic very seriously.
