Wexford woman to compete against 20 other 'queens' for coveted country crown
Twenty-one young women will arrive in Athboy, Co. Meath on Friday, May 29 for a packed bank-holiday weekend at the 2026 Blue Jean Country Queen Festival. The event is organised by Meath Macra na Feirme in collaboration with the Athboy community and includes two free family fun days, a free barbecue, karaoke, and night-time entertainment. Entries come from Macra clubs across Ireland, as well as from Northern Ireland and France. Alice Murphy, representing Blackstairs Macra, balances part-time milk recording with studies and interests including gardening, mindfulness, reading, photography, the Irish language, regenerative agriculture, herbalism, and walking. She will take part in team-building at Causey Farm, meet her host family, attend a pub crawl, join music sessions, complete judge interviews, visit a street market, and take part in family fun day activities.

She is currently studying reflexology, adding to her growing knowledge of holistic health and wellbeing."
"To help her settle in, Alice will first attend a fun team-building exercise at Causey Farm alongside her fellow queens. Afterwards, she will meet her local host family, with whom she will stay for the entire weekend. The festival will officially begin on Friday evening with the Nana Moons Pub Crawl through Athboy."
